Stamatis makes Top Fuel deal Print E-mail

WA drag racing veteran Martin Stamatis is a name people new to the sport may not immediately recognise but will soon associate with its peak - Top Fuel.

Stamatis has negotiated a deal with Jim Read Racing to race in Top Fuel from as soon as May this year.
The car would remain based in the eastern states but follow the national championship rounds.
Stamatis started his racing in 1977 but stopped competing in 1995. He became famous for his very quick small block dragster which ran a best time of 6.06sec.
He has been keeping his hand in the sport as part of the Greene Machine Nitro Funny Car team and now looks like becoming one of WA's major players.
