Dobson made a 4.78/303mph pass in the second session of qualifying to top qualify in the field, driving Santo Rapisarda's Uplift Cranes dragster which was recently piloted by Scott Kalitta to a 4.51 pass in Sydney.

Dobson then took a round one solo before defeating Steve Read in the semi finals with a pedalling 4.95 at 301mph.

The final was one of the best races in Australian drag racing. Dobson came out with an equal .508 reaction time (Willowbank still uses a .400 reaction time system) to his opponent, Australian champion Phil Read. From there they raced side by side, Read just taking the win with a 4.66 defeating a 4.71 in Australia's quickest side by side race.

Dobson will race in the fifth round of the championship at Kwinana at the wheel of the Crank-n-Stein dragster.
