Gregorini team back again Print E-mail

The Father and Son team of Peter and Daniel Gregorini will be hitting the quarter mile bigger than ever this season.

Daniel, the 05/06 Super Sedan Champion will have a new look and new name as the well known Thundastruk Racing LX Hatchback Torana has been sold.

The team will now be known as Scratch & Match Motorsport and is only weeks away from completing their new Top Doorslammer. The 68 Camaro with all the latest US Pro Mod technology is being built by renowned chassis builder Jim Salemi of GFORCE RACE CARS in Tonawonda USA.

The engine is a Jancen Motorsports prepared 521 ci BAE 6, with a Kobelco K11 Supercharger prepped by DMPE.

The car is currently being powder coated then the finishing touches will be completed. Well known GFORCE Pro Mod driver Mike Stawiki will test the Camaro to make sure everything is 100% before it is loaded in the container.

To start with the car will be running AA/AP at all Perth Motorplex events this season with rumours that Jim Salemi from GFORCE might be heading down under to Perth for his first ever trip to Australia for tuning duties at the 14/15 November Goldenstates Top Doorslammer event.

Recently taking on the biggest step in his life Daniel bought a well known panel shop Scratch & Match.

"It's been a huge commitment and a lot of hard work but I think this next step will be the biggest step ever in my career," he said. "Dad and I have put a huge amount of work and effort into our new Scratch & Match Motorsport team and there has been a lot of late nights building a transporter and preparing for the up coming season.

"We have had a lot of help building up to this and we spent the last season crewing for Mario Puglia's AA/AP Team which was a huge learning curve running a supercharged deal, but now it's our time to play."

This season the Scratch & Match Motorsport Team will be joined by Adam Croker and his crew until Adam's new car arrives in Perth. Adam will take on tuning duties along with the help from DMPE in the USA.

This will be a great help to the Scratch & Match Motorsport Team who can learn from the knowledge Adam and his team has running supercharged cars. This, along with the US built state of the art supercharged Camaro, will no doubt help Daniel steer the thing down the Perth Motorplex quarter mile.

"This is a hard deal to organise and so far it has been self funded by us. Without a car to show it is hard to find sponsors." Said Daniel.

Anyone looking to get involved in motorsport, and wants to back what should be a highly successful team can contact Daniel on 0402 068 309 or Peter on 0402 068 307.

Daniel concluded in saying, "It's been our dream to run Top Doorslammer which has now become a reality for us. With me growing up and going to the track since the age of 3 when Dad ran his Premier in S/ST and then the Torana, motorsport was always going to be in my blood and we're ready and pumped to get back into it."
