Shane Wynd is making the long tow to the eastern states again to compete in the final round of the Rocket Allstar Racing Series at the Winternationals at Willowbank Raceway in June.
The Dial Before You Dig Ford ute has become one of the nation's toughest Super Sedans thanks to Wynd's work ethic and racing smarts. While the Winternationals is the main goal, Wynd is planning some fun first. “We are doing some displays in Broken Hill on at the local Ford dealership and then doing a display for all the Dial Before You Dig members,” he said. “Then that afternoon we are off to Sydney were we are doing the Civinex Expo at Western Sydney International Dragway which will include running the street meet on the Friday night before the Civinex crowd.” Wynd's father will be helping him out the whole way by driving the truck and performing pit crew duties. After what he hopes will be a win at the Winternationals, Wynd also has plans to leave his racing operation in the east to get a good start to next season's Rocket series. “We will be leaving everything over there so that we can go back over in September to do the first three rounds before heading back home after Mackay in October,” he said. “This may be my last trip as the cost of diesel goes up, it's now out of my reach to keep doing this if I can't get some major backing. “I have a second car on the build which has not been touched since I bought it three years ago, the plan was to leave it in Brisbane and fly in and out, but this is now looking shaky also.” |
