Morgan team pumped Print E-mail

Anyone who has been involved with a team competing at championship level in any sport can have extreme highs and lows. For a drag racer the highs of running the quickest times and fastest speeds, winning an event or becoming national Champion all mark the pinnacles of success. Yet for the Darren Morgan Racing team the Nitro Champs last weekend marked a new peak in their march for Top fuel supremacy.

After qualifying sixth in one of the toughest Top Fuel fields ever to line up for an ANDRA event, the Rocket Industries/Wicked Quick/Hi-Tec Oils dragster shook hard in its first round match up. Out of the event, but not out of spirit, the team thrashed to ready the car for a late evening exhibition pass. That pass resulted in a magical 4.63 second blast, putting smiles on the faces of a team who are gaining in strength and confidence every day.

The debut of the Rocket Industries logos on the Wicked Quick dragster became the talk of the pits as did the appearance by Rocket’s Managing Director and race legend Graeme Cowin. Graeme has taken on an advisory position with the team helping Terry Sparrow to tune the 8000 Horsepower dragster. Terry has been impressive with his abilities to harness the nitro powered monster over the past seven races, now he and Graeme can finesse his baseline tune up.

“We have a car that is more than capable of running big speeds and low elapsed times. The whole team is pumped. The Nitro Champs had a huge crowd and we really wanted to show our fans what we are capable of, the 4.63 pass was fantastic for all. The team thrives on adrenaline with a little help from High Roller Energy Drink,” Darren commented.

“At every race we attend we want to grow. We now have solid foundations in place for the long term success of the team. Heading into the final race of the season it is hard to believe that we have only been doing this as a team for seven races. Bring on ’09” smiled the Mildura based Morgan.

The next event for the Rocket Industries/Wicked Quick/Hi-Tec Oils team will be the Castrol Edge Winternationals June 5-9, Willowbank Raceway, Ipswich Queensland.
