The Marchant family team has come out with a new Top Alcohol dragster this season and has so far been coming to terms well with running a car that can cover a quarter mile in 5.81 seconds and reach almost 400kmh.

Daniel Marchant tunes the car while brother Adam Marchant does the driving.

Daniel says the team has adapted well to their new machine as they already have plenty of experience in tuning methanol-fuelled dragsters.

"We've been doing this a lot longer than most people realise as we've worked with Adam Croker for ages on both his dragster and Top Doorslammer," he said.

The big challenge has been getting Adam used to driving the land-based missile.

"Adam has been getting used to driving by us getting him used to one aspect at a time," Daniel said. "For the event just gone it was shift points for instance.

"We were going to start getting after the engine tune up but we've had to nurse it through due to some rocker problems."

The team has big intentions to play on the East Coast with some of the nation's best Top Alcohol teams.

"We're going over to Sydney in May to do the Nitro Champs, then we're going to the Winternats," Daniel said. "Then we'll play it by ear and might do the first round of the next season in Sydney.

"If we can just qualify we'll be happy, even if we go out in the first round."
