We preview the field and give you the low down on who to look out for. "Expert" analysis we'll call it.

Top Alcohol

1 (points ranking) Wayne Newby NSW 160 (points) - The main man in the dragsters. Coming off a Nationals win, Newby also won at Kwinana last season. If he doesn't get tyre shake, he goes quick. Qualifying could be his only head ache if the track gets too cool too quickly.

1 Aaron Lynch QLD 160 - He's been playing with nitro between events but steps back into the alcohol car this time. Two runner ups have got him where he is, this Queensland racer still needs some consistency but he was runner up at Kwinana last season. Definitely one of the main chances.

3 Steven Reed QLD 120 - Racing his new car at Kwinana for the first time, Steve is a crowd favourite in Queensland. He's still finding the car's true potential. Struggled at Kwinana last year with an engine failure but with a two day event to get on top of things he will be a lot more dangerous.

4 Brett Stevens QLD 110 - The Kitten car was dominant at Kwinana last season with four straight 5.6 second runs until he smoked the tyres in the semis and lost out to Lynch. If he can repeat that this season then watch out. Consistency is on The Boss's side.

6 Ben Bray QLD 90 - A last minute entry, Bray has new Armor All sponsorship on his Pontiac and will be looking to return to 5.5 second form after a torrid 2007 season so far. Bray is a former champion and always has the potential, his points standing is not an indicator of form. Night qualifying should suit the team.

8 Gary Phillips QLD 60 - Phillips did not attend last season's round at Kwinana but will be bringing his new Lucas Oils Monte Carlo this time. It is still in the sorting stages. He's a multi-time champion and has plenty of track knowledge. The Funny Car has been a little hit and miss so far and could get pounced on if unable to find regular 5sec. runs.

8 Debbie Reed QLD 60 - Top Alcohol's only female racer, Debbie is wife to Steve but races a dragster. She struggled last year with a supercharger pop damaging an engine but has shown she can run 5.7 second passes. Needs to concentrate on making the show first and then go from there.

10 Damien Harris WA 40 - Teamed up with North Queensland tuner Paul Shackleton this season, Harris put in some good runs recently at the Australian Nationals. Big speeds could be turned into low ETs. Harris has never run super fast at the Motorplex funnily enough but this could be his event.

Mark Sheehan - The field's lone altered is a literal dark horse, what with the all carbon fibre body. It could run a 5.6, it might wheel stand, it could go up in smoke, you never know. Sheehan made the semi finals last year at Kwinana and has the ability to show the east coast racers how it is done.

Aaron Deery - First time in Top Alcohol. Has a best of 6.03 but a recent 248mph shows he has the horsepower. Still sorting the car but will almost certainly runs fives at this event. Needs to get used to a pro tree.

Pro Stock Motorcycle

1 (points ranking) Jason Lee SA 160 (points) - Trevor Birrell Suzuki power behind him, Lee has always been a good rider. Had a win in Sydney and is also the only racer with recent on-bike experience at Kwinana, winning the Westernationals last season. Good pick.

1 Graeme Weston VIC 160 - Budget racer who has come through for two runner ups this season. Lacks the outright pace but this flamed machine is always the dark horse.

3 Callam Godeassi VIC 150 - Plenty of horsepower on board with recent 7.2 second times using ex-Daniel Peatey gear, Godeassi is also a top rider. A recent win at the Australian Nationals puts him as one of the favourites.

4 Maurice Allen VIC 100 - Great presented team that doesn't quite have the pace of the top runners, but is getting quicker each event. May be the surprise package of Kwinana.

5 Peter Cochrane QLD 90 - Cochrane has not been able to follow in the footsteps of Dion Prowse on the BSR Buell recently but this is the quickest bike in the field. Just needs some luck on his side.

6 Michael Gilbertson QLD 80 - A switch to Suzuki power for former champion Gilbertson this season. Still getting on top of things and if he can find consistency then he could find some round wins.
