O'Sullivan valiant in Super Street Print E-mail

Drag racing sees many cars with lots of history and one of these is the Valiant VC of Shane O'Sullivan.

The car was home built and has been racing since 1985 in the hands of O'Sullivan who is now 56 years young.
O'Sullivan is the current president of the Westside Drag racing Association and has played a prominent role in the administration of drag racing through his years in the sport.
The Valiant which provides his thrills has run a best time of 11.65sec. at 177km/h.
It is the epitome of handicap racing in many ways, with everything on the car done on a budget and innovation throughout to make up for not having the latest and greatest.
It utilises the common Super Street V8 with a home made EFI system recently put on the car which will allow for better tuning.
"We hope for better times when we have done all the fine tuning with the computer," said O'Sullivan.
"The car has just evolved over time, it still runs 15 year old iron heads and a patched up block."
Using a Clifford Automatics Torque Flite transmission and a Dominator torque converter the car is no slouch on the start line, launching just as hard as many of the quicker Super Sedans.
It goes to show that you don't need to be throwing masses of annual income to do well in the sport, just enthusiasm, which O'Sullivan has in spades.
