John Zappia made history just over a year ago by running the world's quickest sedan pass and he did it again at Perth Motorplex's Friday night qualifying for the Goldenstate Challenge.
Zappia recorded a 5.92sec. pass, which followed an earlier 5.96sec. run and reset the official Australian records as well.

"The first five we record was achieved in the second half of the track," he said.
"For the last qualifier we stepped up the car and it was really quick to half track, but then the front universal joint failed and smashed the rear of the transmission apart.
"The car is amazing, I can see it going even quicker."
Unfortunately for Zappia his eliminations intentions were curtailed early with some faulty spark plugs meaning the car was off its usual pace and went down to Peter Kapiris in the first round.
Zappia will now have some time to spend at WA's local events refining his combination before heading east again.
