Hollingworth back to Outlaws in Qld Print E-mail

During Willowbank Raceway's 42nd Australian Nationals on September 14-16, Brisbane's Chris Hollingworth will compete wholly and solely in the Supercharged Outlaws ranks, following a 12 month acid test ini tiation in the Group One Top Alcohol ranks. The former crew chief to the World-class Team Bray Racing outfit enjoyed the steep learning curve last season.

It was at the corresponding Australian Nationals last year that Hollingworth made his charge into the professional ranks and although racing something a little less beefier this time around, his '95 VS Holden Commodore Ute has a best time of 7.70 seconds over the quarter mile at speeds in excess of 300 km/h.

"This will be my fifth season in Outlaws and I'm sure my machine, which is powered by a 582 Big Block Chevy can muscle up to the challenge," said Hollingworth.

"When we last ran the car at the Castrol EDGE Winternationals in June we made it through to the second round so we're really not that far off getting to the business end of things.

"One thing about being around guys like Victor and Benny (Bray) is that you learn a lot about cutting good lights (at the start line) and you s tart to approach things a bit more seriously on race day.

"The team is a lot more professional about how we do things and when we race, we race to win.

"We're still hoping to put a program together to compete in Top Alcohol during the season but in the mean time we're focused towards the Nationals and looking to get a solid result.

"I'll again be very hands on with the Brays and at an event like the Nationals everyone just lifts that little bit more in the hope of winning that gold Christmas Tree winner's trophy."

"To be running in Queensland in front of a home crowd is always a bonus and the build up to this year has been good on the back end of Group One competition."
