Russell Batley is currently in the build of a new Supra which will eventually suit racing in the Competition category. It will have a full tube chassis and roll cage providing stability and protection for the driver while some massive horsepower is to be supplied with the native Toyota 2JZ engine combination. Enhancing the engineering will be Wiseco pistons, titanium valves, HKS camshafts and an ITS turbo, all of which is hoped to make 1200 to 1400 horsepower. Batley is no stranger to quick turbocharged cars with his last ride a Ford Escort, also motivated by a 2JZ engine. "It should run 7sec. no problems," said Batley. "The old combo we had ran 8.42sec. at 262kmh in the Escort, that was getting a little bit angry. On its last run it did a massive wheelstand so that is why we have chosen something with a longer wheelbase to go faster." Batley said the new car is hoped to be on track by the start of the 2007-2008 season. |
