The Perth Motorplex 2007/2008 season calendar has been released with an increased schedule of Drag Racing, Speedway and special events listed paving the way for a bigger and better season.
The Super Speedway season will highlight the return of the World Series Sprintcars in November and the 67th Australian Speedcar Nationals in February along with the 26th annual Sprintcar King of Wings all being run over two days. The West Australian Super Sedan Championships will be held in November and The Australian Late Model Nationals will be run in January. The eagerly anticipated debut of the 410 Sprintcars will be one of the biggest features of the new season with racers and fans alike agreeing that the 500 metre high banked Perth Motorplex racing surface will be the best Speedway track in the country to test the big horsepower on. In all there will be eleven Super Speedway events conducted over 14 days starting in late October with the Grand Opening event featuring a Demo Derby and the inaugural 'Magic Man 34' Speedcar race in honor of Michael Figliomeni. The Australian Top Alcohol Championship round will now be run over two days and will include a round of the Australian Pro Stock Motorcycle Championship for the first time at the Perth Motorplex. The popular Top Doorslammers and Top Bikes will each have two Championship rounds, the first in early December before returning for the 37th annual Westernationals in March. The Kings of Drag Racing - the 8,000 horsepowered Top Fuel Dragsters will race over two days in February. The ever popular Nitro Funny Cars and the US Jet Dragsters will also make appearances during the season. The Drag Racing calendar will include nine major events over thirteen days commencing on Saturday October 20. There will be a large number of other events conducted during the 2007/2008 season in addition to the major Super Speedway and Drag Racing events scheduled. Motorvation 22 will be held in January with Genie Performance Exhaust Whoop Ass Wednesdays, Autotrader Fast Fridays, Kwinana Performance Holden v Ford, Rev-it Finance All Bike Drags, Cruizin Magazine Nostalgia Drags all again featuring prominately during the season. The West Coast Burnout Masters in October and the Hankook tyres Burnout King on Good Friday will satisfy those who like their tyres - fried! New events including a series of four Western Hi Tech events have been added along with the intriguingly named ANZAC Day 2up. |
