Stories from the road - 2008/08/06 09:21 I know we say what happens at Willowbank, stays at Willowbank and variations there of...but there has to be some classic stories around.

I'm thinking Turken might have just a few...

Hmmm let me think...

There was going into Kings Cross in Sydney with a certain Modified Bike racer when the drags got rained out and trying to get directions from drug addicts. Then taking the wrong train line back to Parramatta and needing to get a taxi all the way back.

There was a a certain Supercharged Outlaws racer who took a young, naive boy to the strippers in Brisbane then left him to get the train to the Gold Coast while semi-drunk.

And I'm sure many people have done the hangover express the morning after the Winters. Most recent example of this was hot footing it out of the event this year to get home, get pissed, get a taxi and party in Brisbane until about 3am, before having to get up at 7am for the flight back.

Re:Stories from the road - 2008/08/06 17:24 1998 Nationals at the Travelodge in Melbourne was the after party of the era (Nytro would def add more to this list).
So many funny things happened that night:

1) Mikres stealing 2 bottles of vodka from behind the bar and drinking it with a pre-mixed jug of vodka and orange
2) Once again Mikres stealing Dave Cook's camera and hustling everyone into the bar to take a photo, only to nearly knock himself out on the door frame
3) Victor pushing a couch into the lift and sitting on it going up and down all night and getting Benny to fetch him drinks
4) Santo booking a room so we could keep getting drinks long after the bar closed
5) Doing bog laps around the carpark with Johnny and Andrew Cowin and Jason Walker (crew guy with Atholwood F/C)
6) Jim Walton passed out on a chair
8) John Taverna drinking all night then calmly jumping in his car to go to work at 5am (bad move)
9) Finally me running over to the airport to catch a plane that was already leaving. Cracked a rib jumping the fence. Got a ticket on the next flight and had most of WA drag racers pissing themselves at me blind drunk in the departure lounge, finishing with me being late for a course at work back home

I got so many more stories some incriminating and some incriminating others, at all major tracks in Australia

Re:Stories from the road - 2008/08/06 22:14 There is a story that came from a Nationals at Calder back in the 90's.

A number of well known WA Drag Racing identities in a Toyota Tarago hire car (maybe 10 inside) doing laps of the Thunder Dome flat out being chased by the security guards.

Anyone want to fill in the details???

Who's credit card was it hired on anyhow?

Yep Turken that was 'THE' after party awright ... I could not tell you who won Top Fuel that year but I do remember (most) parts of that! However being more mature I booked the afternoon flight home but the Vodka with Vokda and Orange mixer certainly made even that flight hard to catch!

Must admit we got a few (read a lot) of weird looks from the 'straight' people leaving the Travelodge to catch their flights home going past the Bar and we were still in full flight! Imagine that... after a good nights sleep that was as good as they were going to feel all day, at least we had something to look forward to

Re:Stories from the road - 2008/08/15 11:32 That was a big week in Melbourne!!!! Vagually remember going to the track usually around 3pm after waking up each day. We went across with the Catalanos and some other WA crew that year, reckon I spent 2 grand on food and piss that week. Found a nice coffee shop that would serve us bacon and eggs and jacks and coke each morning on the way home to bed!!!!

Loved how the Trams and trains where free for racers to

I was at that party glad we left early but somehow found the crown instead of our hotel in town, oh and I remember I fell in love a few times at the Crazy horse or was that the gentlmans club over there!!!

Lucky I am much more responsible now
