New calendar out - 2008/06/27 13:42 So what do you think?
Pretty much the same as previous years which is good. I notice the starting event has been left a bit later than normal.
Four test and tunes, three of them on Wednesdays. What do you think about this format?
Hi Tech series has been scaled back this season, and correctly too in my opinion. It didn't get the support it deserved last season.
Good to see the bike meet brought earlier into the season.

Re:New calendar out - 2008/06/27 17:33 Most of it looks ok.
I don't like the Boxing Day events though.
Just my opinion.

Re:New calendar out - 2008/06/28 10:28 I must admit i'm with ya.
Unfortunately for us they draw a crowd that pays the bills.
What I wouldnt mind seeing is a resurrection of the "Night of Fire" meetings....
Why not have other zoo acts as well.
Maybe a match race with a fuel car and jet just to show the 'different' crowd that come to the jet meetings what real race cars are?
Hell why not a Nitro F/C, Fuel Dragster and a couple of jets doing Chicago Style Shootout?

Re:New calendar out - 2008/06/29 13:38 The jets are a bit "eh" now, but what about adding that awesome wheel standing ute on the cover of the dragster. The kids would love it. Or is there the concern that it may damage the track!

Re:New calendar out - 2008/06/29 16:35 state50,
Hence my comment about the 'night of fire' Only Probelm with the Wheelstanders these days is they don't get the sparks off the back anymore due to the buildup of rubber on the track.
They have to resort to using pyrotechnics which in my mind is like having a pissup with light beer - makes a point but not the intended idea!

Re:New calendar out - 2008/06/29 21:07 Looks like Im going to miss the first event, we arranged a family holiday on the Gold Coast for the first week of November thinking that opening nite would still be in October. Maybe last seasons rainout has something to do with it. Other than my selfish reason it all looks good. 66 Mustang pb 10.27

Re:New calendar out - 2008/07/03 12:59 A pissup with light beer, wash your mouth out!!
I don't like the Friday night qualifying. With jobs and kids, it makes it a real rush to try to get to the track at a decent time and of course all the crew have to do the same. Some crews all work at the same place, which means that the whole place closes down for the day if they want to take advantage of the Friday night qualifying. With the calendar being top heavy at the beginning of the season, it is a big ask to get that many days or half days off in a short space of time. We only live an hour from the track and we have to leave work after lunch to get there and avoid traffic etc, but those who live further away miss out on the extra track time because they can't get here early enough or at all on a Friday.

Re:New calendar out - 2008/07/03 14:10 Johnsie

i understand where your comming from cause im in joondalup and its a struggle to get there on time sometime.

I think thats some people felt that a whole 2nd day was too much and it could be done on a friday night and sat event better that over a 2 day weekend. althought i might be wrong and happy to be corrected if thats the case

still love to see the SCO shoot out main event would be awesome

Gives lots of people a chance to be consistant and a reason for coming back to the next 1. I know of at least 10 racers that didn't race at them last season for that reason. I just couldn't afford it, although I had fun racing the tow car previuosly.

Re:New calendar out - 2008/07/28 14:58 I know of 2 others who didnt, so would be good if it was returned.

And as I cant afford to race at the big meets was a good way to race.

I wouldn't mind that at all. Incentive to actually fix the car (yep, still haven't done it since last one )

Re:New calendar out - 2008/08/12 23:22 Talked to the drag racing manager (NYTRO)tonight at the westside meeting and after pressuring him he has decided to bring back the points series for the Fast Friday's, so please support this season as I have stuck my head on the chopping block.

I was told I have to supply the trophies, so maybe I'll do something for a bracket at least.

Thanks very much Ray..

Re:New calendar out - 2008/08/13 20:48 Well done Wazowski and Ray, the fast fridays were definatley missing something last season. Im prepared to offer trophies for the nostalgia bracket maybe even something extra as an incentive for this class. Could someone please point me in the right direction as to who to speak too. 66 Mustang pb 10.27
