Talk to Ray and Pikey at the motorplex as I think they have some good contacts re rail transport.
If you have the time it is cheap to put it on the train and ride with it to Port Augusta (back loading train mostly empty going back east) and drive from there.
I recently helped a mate move from Perth to Coffs Harbour and three of us drove Perth to Coffs in 2 days and 6 hours. (Road Trip) & I flew back.
